Most hazardous waste shipped by a hazardous waste generator to a hazardous waste treatment, storage or disposal facility must be shipped using a hazardous waste manifest. Information about obtaining and using a hazardous waste manifest may be found on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Hazardous Waste Manifest System.
When using a printed manifest, if the hazardous waste generator does not receive the manifest copy back from the designated facility within 35 days of the initial shipment, the hazardous waste generator must complete a Hazardous Waste Generator’s Exception Report MO 780-0651. The hazardous waste generator must submit the completed report to the department within 45 days of the initial shipment date.
On June 30, 2018, EPA launched the Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest (e-Manifest) system. This system is accessed through RCRAInfo. For more information, visit EPA's e-Manifest System. Having access to the e-Manifest System at your site will meet the manifest retention requirements, once three years of manifests are in the system.
