Is Senate Confirmation Required?

Senate confirmation is required.

Membership Composition

All members of the commission shall be representative of the general interest of the public or of public water systems. Four members shall be associated with the operation of public water systems, one of which shall be associated with a water system serving a population of 75 or less, one of which shall be associated with a water system serving a population greater than 75 but not more than 2,500, one of which shall be associated with a water system serving a population greater than 2,500 and less than 100,000, and one of which shall be associated with a water system serving a population of more than 100,000; and five members shall represent the water consuming public. All members shall have demonstrated an interest and knowledge about water quality, and, to the greatest extent possible, the various associations representing water suppliers of the size classes shall be represented on the commission. All members shall be qualified by interest, education, training or experience to provide, assess and evaluate scientific and technical information concerning drinking water, financial requirements and the effects of the publishing of standards, rules and regulations.

Members of the commission shall be reimbursed for travel and other actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.

Responsibilities of the Commission/Members

  • Publish rules and regulations necessary for the implementation, administration and enforcement of sections 640.100 to 640.140 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri
  • Adopts the annual Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plan
  • Adopts annually the priority point criteria used for awarding drinking water loans
