Chris Wieberg was named Deputy Director for the department's Missouri Geological Survey, effective March 1, 2023. He oversees the Water Resources Center, the Soil and Water Conservation Program and the Dam and Reservoir Safety Program.
Chris began his career with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in 2004, as a Soil and Water District Coordinator. He worked in the Water Protection Program in various capacities. Chris served as the director of the Water Protection Program since August 2017. Throughout his career, Chris worked to manage the state’s water resources by advocating for soil and water conservation, creating a strong water pollution regulatory framework and protecting groundwater through proper well construction standards. He is passionate about supporting our team to achieve natural resource management, government transparency, accountability to the public and our mission. Chris holds a degree in agriculture from Lincoln University.
