JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 28, 2024 – If you’re in southeast Missouri, be sure to check out these activities planned at state parks and historic sites this July.
- Thursday, July 4: Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Display at Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site
The Arcadia Valley Chamber of Commerce is once again partnering with Missouri State Parks and Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site to celebrate the Fourth of July with a fireworks display on the historic site grounds. The event is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. Attendees are encouraged to bring insect repellent and a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. The event kicks off around 7 p.m. The Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site is located at 118 E. Maple in Pilot Knob.
- Friday, July 5: Summer Concert: Kirk Pierce at Echo Bluff State Park
Enjoy this entertaining concert filled with great music from entertainer Kirk Pierce, who sings a wide range of songs, including some originals, and has a voice that will leave you wanting more. The free concert begins at 8 p.m. at the park amphitheater, located at 35244 Echo Bluff Drive in Eminence.
- Friday, July 5: Movie in the Park: “Family Camp” at Lake Wappapello State Park
Lake Wappapello State Park is hosting a movie night in the park. The free event is held at the park amphitheater and is open to the public. The movie begins at dusk. Lake Wappapello State Park is located at 8005 State Highway 172 in Williamsville.
- Thursday, July 11: Women Outdoors: Water at Current River State Park
Join other women with similar interests! These classes are taught by women and designed to give women more confidence in getting out in nature. The class is free and open to women 16 and older, but registration is required and can be submitted by emailing connie.weber@dnr.mo.gov or by calling 573-751-1224. In this class, women will get in the water and get wet. They will learn about water quality and how to use a water filtration system to get drinkable water from rivers and creeks. Meet at the tennis court at Current River State Park, located at 11053 County Road 19D in Salem.
