JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 30, 2024 – Federal and state officials are hosting a public outreach meeting in Brunswick on Tuesday, June 11, to discuss progress on the flood resiliency study near Brunswick.
Hosted by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the meeting will be held at the Brunswick R-II Junior and Senior High School Auditorium, 1008 County Road, Brunswick, MO, 65236. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. and the meeting begins at 5 p.m.
The Corps of Engineers will provide an update on the study’s progress since March on alternatives development, including newly developed maps that show each alternative. A roundtable discussion will be held after the presentation to answer questions and receive public and local stakeholder feedback. While the meeting will adjourn at 7 p.m., the Missouri Department of Natural Resources will be available for further conversation until 8 p.m.
The study area is along the left bank of the Missouri River and bordered by the Grand and Chariton rivers. This area includes the city of Brunswick and the area behind Missouri River Levee System (MRLS) L-246 within Chariton County.
