This permit authorizes the discharge of return water, wash water and stormwater from maintenance dredging of lakes and river harbors other than Missouri and Mississippi rivers. The dredging activities occur on any contiguous property owned or controlled by a city, city utility, local unit of government, homeowners association or commercial dredging operations to waters of the state. The permit places effluent limits on any water flowing from dredged sediment.
This permit does not cover land disturbance activities or construction of earthen basins. Facilities that discharge all runoff, stormwater, non-process wastewater from commercial sand and gravel mining dredging are required to apply for a Sand and Gravel Washing MO-G500000 master general permit from the department. See the master general permit to learn more about additional exemptions and limitations not covered by this permit.
Length of Permit
The department issues this general permit for a five-year period. The effective date is Aug. 1, 2019 and expires July 31, 2024. If a facility applies for and receives this permit on Oct. 19, 2020, their permit will expire July 31, 2024.
