The Energize Missouri Agriculture Program was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and is part of the funds managed by the Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Energy.
- The department offered $3 million in cost-share grants to help agricultural operations reduce energy costs. A total of 441 projects were funded. Some examples of eligible projects include solar-powered watering systems and fences, irrigation upgrades, GPS systems for tractors and applicators, ventilation and insulation.
- The program reimbursed agricultural operations up to 75% of the purchase cost of qualifying cost-saving energy-efficient equipment and systems with applicants able to receive up to $7,500.
- Agriculture is Missouri’s number one industry. Offering energy saving projects like this benefits the farm families and, ultimately, Missouri’s agricultural consumers.
