All comments must be received or postmarked by June 1, 2023. The public can review the proposed variance conditions below.
Written comments may be submitted by mail to Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Water Protection Program, ATTN: Cindy LePage, PO Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176 or by email to cindy.lepage@dnr.mo.gov. The department can only consider comments about issues relating to the proposed action and the potential effect on emergency operations and water quality.
The depth of the existing Prospect Lakes Lift Station wet well is inadequate for maintaining ample water levels above the pumps; therefore, the district is proposing to construct a new (larger) wet well with additional depth. The project will include constructing a new valve vault and flowmeter vault, two new submersible pumps and associated controls, an influent sewer trash basket, bypass pumping portal, stand-by diesel generator and miscellaneous site security and access improvements. No change in influent flows are expected, as the intent of the project is only to upgrade/ replace the existing lift station.
Code of State Regulation 10 CSR 20-8.130(7)(A) requires that pump stations for a wastewater treatment plant with a design flow of 100,000 gallons per day or greater be designed with a peak-flow storage capacity of two hours. There are site restrictions that prevent constructing the required emergency storage of two hours at peak flows.
