The State of Missouri’s approved budget for FY22 included $68 million in revenue bonds and federal grant funding for upgrades at nearly two dozen state parks. Upgrades include new campsites, new cabins, renovations and improved infrastructure.
Much of the aging infrastructure was pushed to the limit as the pandemic drove people outdoors in record numbers. Missouri saw more than 21 million visitors in 2020, up 14.43% from 2019. Year-to-date attendance is up 6.85%; year-to-date camping is up 25%; year-to-date lodging is up 17.96%.
