Nexgen Silica is hosting an informal public meeting to discuss a new mine site in St. Genevieve county. The department received a permit application from Nexgen Silica for a proposed 249-acre sandstone mine site. The site is located along U.S. Highway 32, approximately one-half mile from Hawn State Park. The mine plan covers property owned by six different landowners, all of whom have given signed consent. The department, Missouri Department of Conservation and Division of Economic Development will attend the public meeting to help answer questions.
