The public is invited to "What’s in a Name?," a part of the Missouri State Museum’s ongoing "Museum after Hours" series. The program will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2 in the museum classroom, which is located in the History Hall in the east wing of the State Capitol.
The program will explore the names of Missouri cities. The origin of some Missouri town names may seem obvious while others have more interesting backstories. Visitors will hear the stories behind the names of some of Missouri’s most interesting places.
The Missouri State Museum’s "Museum after Hours" events are held the first Wednesday of each month when the museum galleries remain open from 5-9 p.m. "Museum after Hours" is for those who have wondered what it would be like to visit the museum at night or whose schedules don’t allow daytime outings. In addition to the special programs, the events allow a more relaxed opportunity to view all the museum exhibits. These exhibits include both old favorites and new offerings.
Evening entry to the Museum will be from the east and west entrances to the Capitol with ADA access available through the Capitol garage, at the lower level of the east side of the building.
