To celebrate the spring season, Washington State Park will host a Twilight Trek and Taste. The event will take place from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at the park.
This event will begin with a lantern-led guided hike on the beautiful 1000 Step Trail. Guests will end the hike at the historic CCC outdoor shelter for an evening of complimentary wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by the Thunderbird Café (operated by park concessionaire Missouri Park Adventures). Wine tastings will be provided by local area wineries including Bardenheier Wine Cellars from Richwoods, Edg-Clif Vineyards from Potosi, LaChance Vineyards from DeSoto, and Wild Sun Winery from Hillsboro.
This event is free to attend, but reservations are required. Contact the park by March 20 at 636-586-5768 to make a reservation. All participants must be 21 or over.
The hike will take place on a .5 mile portion of the natural surface 1000 Step Trail. The trail has some intermediate difficulty. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight or battery-powered lantern and to dress accordingly for this outdoor experience.
