Release Date

Senior citizens can experience Katy Trail State Park from the comfort of a tram coach on the Tuesdays on the Trail tours throughout September and October.  The tram tours will run between different Katy Trail trailheads each week. As riders enjoy the scenery of Katy Trail State Park from the open tram cars, interpretive guides will explain the natural history and cultural features along the way.

The tours are part of Missouri State Parks’ Seniors to Parks initiative with funding for the tram provided by the Missouri Parks Association. The free tours will be offered at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and last around two hours each. Space is limited, and reservations are required.

The dates and locations for the Tuesdays on the Trail tram tours are:

Sept. 13 – Marthasville to Augusta
Sept. 20 – Rocheport to McBaine
Sept. 27 – New Franklin to Rocheport
Oct. 4 – Rhineland to Portland
Oct. 11 – Clinton to Calhoun
Oct. 18 – Windsor to Leeton (preview of new Rock Island Trail State Park)

The Tuesdays on the Trail tram tours will culminate with the annual two-day fall colors tour on Katy Trail State Park Oct. 26-27. Missouri State Parks will begin accepting reservations for the fall colors tour on Sept. 1. More information about the fall color tour will be available on katytrailstatepark.com.
