Visitors are invited to join a park naturalist at Prairie State Park near Mindenmines on a guided bison hike. The hike will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Regal Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center.
Participants will explore the prairie while learning about bison. Hikers should be prepared for a two mile hike over uneven terrain. Bringing water, snacks, insect repellent, a hat, sunscreen, and wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. Binoculars will be useful in looking at bison and other wildlife that inhabit the prairie. Participants are also encouraged to dress for the weather as prairie winds can be strong in the winter.
