Guests can learn about bison and view them in their natural habitat on a guided hike on Saturday, April 4 at 10 a.m. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the hike will provide the opportunity to venture out on the prairie with an experienced guide.
The grass will be green and growing and bison will be ready to have their calves. Hikers should meet at the Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center and be prepared for a two-mile hike over uneven terrain. Bringing water, snacks, insect repellent, a hat, sunscreen and wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. Binoculars will be useful for looking at bison and other wildlife that inhabit the prairie. Participants are also encouraged to dress for cool or warm weather as the prairie winds can make the temperature feel much cooler.
