Portageville, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, in conjunction with the University of Missouri – Fisher Delta Research Center, will provide a free pesticide collection event 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at the University of Missouri – Fisher Delta Research Center located at 147 State Highway T in Portageville.
The collection is open to all Missouri farmers and households. Unwanted pesticides that will be accepted include herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, de-wormers, fly tags and fertilizers containing pesticides. In addition to pesticides, the program will also accept empty triple-rinsed plastic pesticide containers up to 30 gallons in size. Paint, explosives, fire extinguishers, yard waste, electronics and trash will not be accepted.
Pesticides from businesses, pesticide production facilities, pesticide distributors, pesticide retailers and the like will not be accepted.
The event is the first of six events scheduled for 2016.
