JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 22, 2023 – Have you ever thought that some wild plants look good enough to eat? Join the team at Current River State Park Saturday, June 24 or Sunday, June 25, to learn which plants really are edible.
Participants in this hands-on “forage-to-table” class will learn about a variety of edible plants that can be gathered from their own yards. The day will start with a light breakfast, followed by a discussion of foraging etiquette and what to forage. Participants will be divided into groups to forage for supper. This could end up being up to a 1-mile hike, foraging as you go.
There will be a wide range of wild finger foods to sample for lunch. Everyone will help with the preparation of supper and cleanup. Participants should bring the following items: walking shoes, water bottle, gloves, jump drive for a copy of the presentation and paper and pen to take notes.
