School groups and the general public can celebrate Missouri Day in historic St. Charles. The celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 21 at First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site.
The Missouri State Legislature designated the third Wednesday of October each year as "Missouri Day". Missouri Day is a time for schools to honor the state and for Missouri residents to celebrate the achievements of all Missourians. This year’s theme will focus on "Water in Missouri" through fun interactive displays, demonstrations, guest speakers, exhibits, hands-on activities and crafts. Visitors will learn about water habitats, conservation, recreation, energy, history and sciences. It is recommended that guests plan on taking about two hours to wander through all the stations and participate in the activities. The event is free and open to school groups of all ages as well as the general public.
The First Missouri State Capitol is located at 200 South Main Street in historic St. Charles overlooking the beautiful Missouri River. The event will be held in the buildings and grounds that housed Missouri’s First State Capitol, including a trading post and 1820’s residence. Frontier Park is located across the street from the Capitol and is an ideal spot for groups wishing to bring sack lunches.
